Glorieta Conference Center January 2011 to November 2012
*Glorieta Conference Center announced on Sept, 14 2011 that it would be transitioning to "Summer only" operations. Almost the entire staff was laid off. My position ended on November 18, 2012. For the next two years its owner Lifeway sought to find a new organization to take it over. It was eventually given to Camp Eagle in Texas who continues to operate it today.
Recreation Manager, High Point Program (Summer Staff) Manager
Duties of the Recreation Manager:
- Management of all recreation areas, to include: High Ropes/Challenge Course, 2 -800 foot zip lines, Giant Swing, Rock Climbing Wall, Low ropes Course, Mountain Biking, Horseback Riding, Paintball, Laser tag, Miniature Golf, Frisbee Golf, Boating, Tennis, Basketball, Baseball, Horse Shoes, Shuffleboard, Rec Shack, Snow tubing, and Game Room
- Booking and Staffing all Recreational activities for year-round camps with up to 2000 guests on campus at a time
- Maintaining and purchasing all needed equipment, for all of the above recreational areas.
- Recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising the recreation staff: 12 summer staffers, 1 full-time intern, and several retired volunteers
- Making improvements to the recreational areas as funding allows
- Serving as Manager on Duty as part of a 1 week rotation with other managers
Duties of the High Point Program Manager:
- Recruiting, hiring, and supervising the High Point summer staff: 60-70 college students
- Planning the descipleship program to ensure spiritual growth for the High Point Staff throughout the summer, to include twice weekly covenant group meetings and Sunday night summer staff worship
- Planning and executing Summer Staff development activities
- Handling all disciplinary actions concerning summer staffers
