Assistant to the Director of Camp Alta, a small Christian camp in Alta, CA (Lake Tahoe area)
Camp duties included: Guest services, housekeeping, meal service, dish washing, maintenance work, groundskeeping, marketing, web page development, summer staff supervision, new construction, assisting the director, and other general duties.
This was my first full time camp position after I graduated from college, and I learned a great deal. My boss and my camp mentor, Mike Bivins, taught me about the true meaning of the ministry of a camp and showed me how to be a true servant. This was the building of the foundation for my career in Christian camp ministry.
A given day could see me scooping scrambled eggs onto a camper's plate, washing dishes in a rubber apron, painting the roof of a building, unclogging a toilet, cleaning 3 cabins, or fixing the sound system for a group in the middle of the night. I will always look back on my time at Camp Alta with fond memories and great friends.
